Perilous Generalisations

The generalisation suffers from distinct and fatal short-sightedness.

It might be an obvious plight to many, but still we make far too many arrogantly ignorant mistakes because of it—the generalisation.

Is there a non-truth we’re more polished at executing?

This, at its most basic root, is about speaking the truth as much as possible and we can only do that when we’re continually conforming those words of ours as they fly from our lips; reforming them and re-phrasing them in the instant they’re delivered. Worst of all it should be for us to instinctually apologise for the lax way we say things and meanings we’re trying to get to.

Making sweeping, or even passing, generalisations are a folly we can’t really afford to routinely engage in; not if we’re really serious about living attuned to God.
