A Twitter Character Test

Can you follow without needing to be followed back?

Do you follow people in order to be followed back?

The test is this: do you go back, an hour, a day, a week, any time, and unfollow those who have not followed back?

If you answered ‘yes’ it suggests you may be a Twitter narcissist.

It leaves me wondering, with Christians using Twitter, and engaging in this ‘I-follow-you-and-you-follow-me-back—okay?’ practice. Are they genuine disciples? And disciples of who—of Jesus or themselves?

Using social media can be a narcissistic trap. Christians have an opportunity to glorify God—and to reject glorifying themselves—in their use of social media.
