Love – Par Excellence, Safe, Dependable Vulnerability

Love always wins
For Love gives and gives and gives
Love cannot be defeated
The one that loves, lives!
People cannot fight and beat us if we insist on loving them. We cannot implode within ourselves – from burnout, depression, insomnia, etc – when we can receive the love of God poured out by the Holy Spirit.
But everything of love is contingent on surrender – on being safely vulnerable – on giving up in the right way so as not to give up in the wrong way.
Love is everything and more that evil has not contemplated, expected, and known. Evil will thwart love when loves ceases to be love. But love is divine in perfection, and it has supreme power. Now all we have to do is step into love or step out of love’s way.

There are times of cosmic weakness that send us into febrile convulsions of soul. Outside there may be little to see, but we are crumbling from within. It feels like we subsist within a shell – the physical body. We may look at ourselves in the mirror and ask, “Who are you?” for there is no explanation for why we may look okay, yet still crumble away by the chunk-load in our being.
We need to love and be loved. It’s as simple as that.
As we go about life in a functional way, there is the state of inner knowledge, that we don’t fool God. And if we are honest, the point of awareness brings us into the enveloping grace of love. We are comforted by God in this as we are also encouraged to take a leap of faith – to be vulnerable before someone trustworthy.
We need to be met these ways – to be validated, to be acknowledged, and to be appreciated. Only within safety is there the reciprocation of trust. Trust cannot survive on the vapours of relational distance; there must be the safety of love to evoke vulnerability in a person – to share, to confide, to confess, to break from the tradition to protect one’s self.

Love is the agent of healing. She steps aside and inside situations and paves many mysterious yet transforming ways. Let love come in and spread her extravagance – an extravagant grace we all need so intrinsically.
Let love come in. Make her a home. Let her dwell there with you. Let the God of love purge you of fear. Love, in all trueness, will not let you down.
